Dana McKay, Assistant Special Agent in Charge

As the ASAC of the Denver office, Dana supervises agents in Denver, Phoenix, and Long Beach. Dana joined ED OIG in 2004 as a Special Agent. Dana’s training has included the Criminal Investigator Training Program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glenco, GA, advanced interviewing and interrogation, public corruption, financial investigative techniques, leadership, physical fitness certification, and Crucial Conversations.

Prior to her position at ED OIG, Dana was employed as an English and French teacher at a high school and middle school in Montana.

Tim Pikas-Special Agent

Tim joined ED OIG in June 2021. Prior to ED OIG, Tim was a Special Agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigation, Nuclear Regulatory Commission OIG, Department of Defense OIG, and Department of Interior OIG.

Tim’s training has included the Criminal Investigator Training Program, advanced interviewing and interrogation, public corruption, financial investigative techniques, grant fraud, leadership, protective service operation, counterintelligence, surveillance techniques, and counterespionage.

Tim is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Spring, CO, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies. Tim also earned his master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from American Military University.

Session Description

OIG briefing will cover the background and authority of ED-OIG, CARES Act funding, examples of OIG fraud investigations, and how to report fraud to the OIG.
